Do you still like Daddy?

About a week ago my 6 year old asked me this question. My heart sunk when he asked. I didn't know what to say because truthfully, I can't stand the person I'm divorcing and have to deal with today. So, I forced out a "yes" and gave him a hug. After he walked away I sat there thinking about it. I started thinking about the man I married. The man who was always kind, gentle, sweet, and loving. I do still like that man. In fact, I still love that man. So, later that night as I was tucking my son into bed I said "you know what sweetie, I do still like daddy and I still love daddy very much". I was so glad that I was able to answer that question positively and honestly because I truly don't want my kids growing up believing that I hate their father.
